Our Story

Blue Magnolia Bread Co. began with a simple idea: to share the love of homemade sourdough with friends, family, and the community. For founder Amanda Scott, baking has always been about more than just food — it’s about connection, tradition, and a touch of heart in every bite.

Amanda’s journey started in her grandmother’s kitchen, where meals were prepared not just for family but for neighbors, friends, and church members. Those early days taught Amanda the joy of sharing food and creating moments of togetherness. Years later, after raising her family and even running a restaurant with her husband Chuck, Amanda found herself returning to those roots through baking.

What began as a hobby — making sourdough bread for her gluten-sensitive husband — quickly turned into a passion. Amanda started selling her sourdough creations at local farmers markets and couldn’t keep up with demand, even with three ovens running at full capacity. Inspired by the support of her friends and customers, she took a leap of faith and opened Blue Magnolia Bread Co. in a historic downtown Saltillo building.

Today, Blue Magnolia is more than just a bakehouse; it’s a gathering place for the community. From sourdough breads and pastries to a full café menu, everything is made with the same care and love Amanda poured into those first loaves. The upstairs library, cozy interiors, and charming balcony reflect her vision of creating a space where everyone feels welcome.

Amanda’s story is one of love, dedication, and the belief that something as simple as sourdough can bring people together. Visit Blue Magnolia Bread Co., and you’ll see her story in every loaf, every cup of coffee, and every smile shared.
